Michael
Walters
for City Council

MEET MIKE
WHY IS
MICHAEL WALTERS
OUR CANDIDATE?
City Council Member Michael Walters was sworn-in on the City Council in January of 2011...and he has SERVED the people of Watertown ever since. Mike has been involved in many improvement projects during his tenure. He has helped bring the CSAH 20 & 10 Roundabout and Lewis Avenue Extension projects to fruition. He has worked with City Staff to create a City of Watertown Road Maintenance Plan which addresses every street in the city limits for regular maintenance and sets parameters for eventual replacement. Michael Walters also has a history of working with the Watertown-Mayer School District and he helped facilitate a plan for the installation of sprinklers on the soccer fields at the Elementary School.
Looking to our future, Michael Walters knows the time has come to take a new approach to bring new residents to town. The empty lots will not fill up on their own. Delano and Waconia are experiencing exponential growth while Watertown remains stagnant. We need to bring residents to town, but we need employment opportunities to draw them here. Mike is dedicated to attracting new business to our industrial park and filling our available commercial spaces to create jobs and begin growing our local economy.
All of this makes Michael Walters the sound, logical and right candidate for City Council.
But maybe the greatest reason Mike is OUR candidate:
Michael Walters. was our ONLY proponent in the Keep the Bridge Open campaign last fall. He did the research, he wrote articles and pounded the pavement. He took time away from work to reach out to our residents to get their opinions. He fought for our small businesses, our locally employed, our school district and YOU.
And when the when we won the Keep the Bridge Open campaign, Mike turned to the Capital and fought for funding. Michael Walters lobbied with Council Member Lindsay Guetzkow for the state funding needed to get the project underway. Mike made multiple trips to St. Paul and worked with Rep. Ernie Leidiger, Sen. Julianne Ortman and their staff to get time in front of the Transportation Finance Committee. The efforts of Michael Walters is what put Watertown, MN on the map. Michael Walters got us our funding. A blessing in disguise, the bridge project did not begin this last year, but that also means the bridge has not been built. The fight is not over.
That is why Michael Walters is our candidate. That is why Michael Walters is the RIGHT candidate.
